Bolton To The UN

President Bush invoked the constitutional authority of recess appointment to install John Bolton ambassador to the UN.

Bolton had the support of a majority in the Senate, but was unfairly denied an up-or-down vote "because of partisan delaying tactics by a handful of senators".

Reaction from the usual obstructionist suspects (the same dudes abusing their power, or lack thereof, to imply Bush is abusing his power):

Ted Kennedy -- shameful, irresponsible, devious.
Harry Reid -- Bolton is seriously flawed and weakened.
Chris Dodd -- Bolton is damaged goods.

Yaddah, yaddah, yaddah......

When faced with delaying obstructionism by a handful of devious senators, then bypass it.

Clinton had 140 recess appointments. Yeah, I know, that was (whiny drawl for effect) -- different.

More here.
