Schumer Going To War

Drudge Report reveals Democrat strategy for the upcoming Supreme Court battle --

"SEN. SCHUMER CAUGHT ON CELLPHONE: 'WE ARE GOING TO WAR' OVER SUPREME COURT"

Sen. Chuck Schumer:

"It's not about an individual judge… It's about how it affects the overall makeup of the court."

"We are contemplating how we are going to go to war over this."

"Even William Rehnquist is more moderate than they expected. The only ones that resulted how they predicted were [Antonin] Scalia and [Ruth Bader] Ginsburg. So most of the time they've gotten their picks wrong, and that's what we want to do to them again."

"A Priscilla Owen or Janice Rogers Brown style appointment may not have been extraordinary to the appellate court but may be extraordinary to the Supreme Court."

Schumer then put on his other face and called Sen. Lindsey Graham to chum it up.

Schumer, the point man for the Democrats on judges, confirmed out loud what everyone knew -- "It's not about an individual judge". All the Democrat urging to avoid a fight by selecting a mainstream nominee devoid
of ideology is a crock.

It's all about stealth judges -- getting the picks wrong and doing it to them again. To a Democrat, this is what a mainstream nominee truly signifies.

Schumer has said there were no philosophical positions a candidate could hold that would automatically garner opposition from him.

Yet, Schumer has also said that Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee are prepared to use judicial philosophy as justification for thwarting any of President Bush's nominees to replace Justice O'Connor.
Schumer stands ready to resurrect the filibuster.

In Sen. Graham's view, disagreement with a nominee's judicial philosophy does not constitute an extraordinary circumstance.

No wonder Schumer wants to get chummy with Graham on his cellphone -- but, it's a circumstance that's quite extraordinary!
